Whose Voice Are You Heeding?

Return, return, O Shulamite; Return, return, that we may look upon you! What would you see in the Shulamite— As it were, the dance of the two camps?” Song of Solomon 6:13 NKJV

When we begin to coast spiritually, we often become more vulnerable to the desires of the flesh. There is a fierce battle taking place within us—a continual conflict between the flesh and the Spirit. When we drift from the presence of God or grow complacent in our walk with Him, one voice inevitably begins to drown out the other.

The world constantly beckons us to return to its empty pleasures, appealing to the cravings of our flesh and promising satisfaction it can never truly provide. At the same time, the Holy Spirit lovingly calls us back to the sacred place of intimacy that is found only through surrender, denying the flesh, and walking in step with Him.

Song of Solomon paints a beautiful picture of this invitation: "Return, return, O Shulamite." It is the cry of the Beloved calling His bride back into His presence. The "dance of the two camps" reflects the tension of two opposing realities—the pull of the flesh and the invitation of the Spirit. Every believer experiences this battle, but the heart of the Bridegroom never changes. His call is not one of condemnation but of love.

The Lover of our souls is continually drawing us back with His burning heart. He longs for restored communion, deeper fellowship, and renewed intimacy. His voice still echoes today:

"Return to Me. I have something far better for you than anything the world can offer. Come back to the place where love, joy, peace, and true life are found. Return to Me, My beloved."

His invitation remains open. The question is not whether He is calling—it is whether we will respond.
