When Jesus says His yoke is easy and His burden is light, it is absolutely true. We fight against it, thinking it will restrict us—but it does the opposite. It brings freedom. First, we rest by faith in Jesus Christ. Then, we rest through obedience to Him. Rest from fear is followed by rest from the burden of relying on ourselves.

I never would have considered myself promiscuous prior to becoming born again but as the Lord began to heal me I realized that most of my deep wounding was rooted in sexual sin. It left a trail of failed marriages, a broken family, and tremendous loss and heartbreak.

You get no pleasure from the blood of bulls and lambs and goats. When I come to worship you, who asked me to parade through your courts with all my ceremony? All of this struck my heart, and I knew it was true. Yes, I had opened the store for Him and yes it was a pretty gift. But my heart was far from offering this to Him from a place of love.
